It takes a special band to be able to cover Bob Marley, Queen, Johnny Cash, Sublime, and The Beatles in one set, and not only make it work, but make it shine. Faded Roots’ ability to take iconic songs and make them their own is unmatched in South Florida. Pair their covers with their originals, and Faded Roots creates a part reggae, part rock live music experience unlike any other.

 

Having shared the bill with nationwide artists Third World, Ky-Mani Marley, Resinated, and Sowflo, Faded Roots has created something special, not only on stage, but also in the hearts of the members who make it all work. Coming from four entirely different backgrounds, Shaun Miller, Jose Lopez, Tyler Hargrove, and Ruli Tjetje started Faded Roots in January of 2018. Starting out with no expectations of where the band would go, Faded Roots has blossomed into a family, with music at the heart of it all.

 

In October of 2018, Faded Roots made a statement about the Florida water crisis, in the form of their debut single, Toxic Mentality, which earned them a feature in the Fort Myers News-Press. Inspired by his daughter, Shaun Miller wrote Toxic Mentality to bring awareness to the politics surrounding the toxic algae bloom that plagued Florida’s shores in the summer and fall of 2018.

 

With more than a thousand likes on Facebook along with several hundred followers on Instagram, Faded Roots has built a respectable following across South Florida, enchanting everyone who sees them live. Shaun’s deep vocals immediately capture the attention of anyone in the room. Add in drums by Jose, keyboard and guitar by Ruli, and bass by Tyler, and Faded Roots is the perfect recipe to get people out of their seats and onto the dance floor.

 

When they’re not playing shows, Faded Roots is hard at work perfecting their original songs. They released their debut album, Head Up in December 2019.
